General Rules
1.) First and foremost, all member are required to follow deviantart's etiquette policy and rules.
2.) Respect everyone, not just the mods. We try to create a friendly atmosphere here, and we want everyone to be kind and courteous. This means that admins are not the only ones getting respect.
3.) If you feel as though someone isn't respecting you as a group member then please note the group or an admin. Make sure to title your note properly so we know to pay attention to said note.
4.) Admins have the final say in all situations involving the group. However, if you feel that you have been wronged by an admin, note one of the other two. Make sure to title your note properly so we know to pay attention to said note.
5.) If you are in a situation where Admins need to step in, it is strongly suggested that you have some sort of evidence, such as a screen shot, to back up your claims. If admins aren't there, don't hear about the situation from multiple second parties, or don't have proof of the offence- there isn't much we can do.
6.) If you are found to be making repeated offenses or caught breaking the rules, you will be punished accordingly. This includes, but is not limited to character limitation, temporary suspension, and/or being banned from the group entirely.
7.) Admins are expected to report any violations of the rules and or disrespectful behavior. Those who condone it will be punished accordingly. This includes, but is not limited to character limitation, temporary suspension, and/or being banned from the group entirely.
8.) This is a PG-13 role-play group. In group environments such as the dA chats, Skype chats, and other area of group activity you much keep things civil. Yes, swearing is permitted but do not go overboard. If people abuse this privilege it will be revoked.
Chat Room Rules
1.) Anyone is allow to pop into any of the chats, but in order to role-play your app must be filled out and accepted.
2.) Be courteous, use your manners and common sense. Remember, treat others as you'd like to be treated! (Which we assume is nicely.)
3.) There are three different chats for a reason. If you want to role-play, join the RP Chat. If you want to chat, join the OOC Chat. Common sense folks.
4.) The three chats are not a place to complain about life and how horrible it is. If you're having a tough time, we understand but please talk it out in a private chat. So don't cause OOC drama for the sake of causing drama.
5.) Admins may not abuse their powers. Be mature about your positions. Before kicking or banning someone, give fair warning and a solid explanation.
6.) No spamming the chats. You will be kicked!

ALSO inappropriate chats involving sex, smut, rape, abuse, ect must be taken to private messages or other groups. The mods and members respect that some people are in bad places and encourage those individuals to seek help. But using a role-play group's public chat to do so is inappropriate.
RP Rules
1.) Remember overall rule #1. In order to role-play in a group setting your app must be filled out and accepted. You can privately rp a test character, but do not go overboard. (Ex: Causing fights or drama with an unofficial OC)
2.) No Godmodding, Power Playing, MetaGaming, or Bunnying allowed. If we see characters doing this, we will confront you, and we will ask you to tone it down. Those who do not listen/continue doing so will be punished accordingly.
3.) This is a literate RP group. Meaning that we expect you to have a firm grasp on the English language, be able to RP in complete sentences, and have semi-decent grammar. Yes, it's fine to do some chat speaking, but not during an RP/all the time. Those whose first language is not English are also welcome, but again, there must be a decent grasp of the English language.
4.) Ask before you enter an rp. Some of them are pre-planned- and it's not fair to others if you jump on in without their permission. However, don't be afraid to start your own!
5.) That being said if you do have a pre-planned rp it may be best to rp it privately as to avoid the situation above. Or at least leave it open so people are allowed to join it.
6.) Typically during role-plays, we follow an order of turns. This order is the members list down the sidebar of the chat. You go after the participant who's name is above yours, and the participant beneath you goes after you. You go during your turn and only during your turn, unless something is otherwise stated (like someone stating they're either dropping out or wish to be skipped.)
7.) We RP in bold. That way it's easier for use to distinguish posts from occasional OOC talk! If you wish to bold your post, simply type < b > without spaces in between. Also, when taking in OOC, use brackets. Such as: ) )) ] ]] () []
8.) Try to keep your entire post in just one post. We don't want to see this:
<Anon> Character scractched their head
<Anon> "What's up?" they asked
<Anon> They flicked their tail, running their hands through their hair.
<Anon> (( Your turn! ))
9.) Your character can't be the center of attention when it comes to everything. It makes it unfair to others- and really, if you want them to be in the spotlight all the time, write a book.
Character Creation Rules
1.) If using an artist app, the art on the application must be your own. The same thing goes for the written app, expect the writing must be your own.
2.) the use of adoptable designs are allowed, but again, the art/writing must be yours.
3.) If you are caught using a base/tracing/stealing art/using other's work/ect. You app will be removed from the group and your character will not be permitted until edits are made.
4.) Continuous violation of rule #3 will result in consequences. This includes, but is not limited to character limitation, temporary suspension, and/or being banned from the group entirely.
5.) Absolutely no Mary-sues/Gary-stus. We don't want characters that are 'perfect' or 'so flawed but still perfect'. You characters cannot be flawless, it's not fun- and frankly, it makes the character flat and boring.
6.) Your character can only have up to 30% of animal/plant DNA, and only have up to three mutations. Human does not count as a mutation. ( Example: -- % Bird -- % Cat -- % Plant --% Human )
7.) Based on the book series of Maximum Ride, 2% of avian DNA gave the characters wings, abilities, altered lung structures, and hollow bones. Use this as a guide. Be prepared for the mods to ask you to alter your app if you have too much or too little mutation.
8.) The mutation process would take place at birth or during infancy for large mutation. No acceptions Small amounts can be implemented during childhood (2-5 years old) and so on and so forth. Barely any outward mutation if the mutant has reached adult hood. Ask for clarification!
9.) While mutants have animal attributes, this is not a group for furries or anthros! If they're covered completely in scales/fur/feathers/ect, they must have a human face, be bipedal, and have plantigrade feet. If you'd like an animal faces/heads, that is alright too! But then they must be bipedal, have plantigrade feet, and can't be fully covered in scales/fur/feathers/ect. There must be balance! If you're unsure, ask a mod or note the group!
10.) This group is a sci-fi esk group so while there is leniency to what you can do with your character, we'd like it to be at least some what realistic. For example, if your OC is venomous, they must have the corresponding body part that is venomous OR have a plausible reason why they are modified. If you have questions about this, feel free to message an admin or note the group.
11.) Please fill out your application completely. WIP's will not be accepted. Meaning information must be fully done and the picture must be colored. (If doing a drawn app.) The submit the complete deviation into the correct folder.
12.) Please keep proportions realistic on some degree- ie. don't hyper-sexualize genitalia, especially on a minor. A good rule of thumb would be if you're wondering whether or not you should put a mature filter on it. If you aren't sure, you've more than likely already crossed the line.
13.) Dress your character appropriately, please. They're mutants on the run- meaning it's not likely for them to be able to get things such as hair dye, weapons, super skimpy clothing, hot topic t-shirts, or piercings by normal means. If they have any of this, you will need to explain it in your application. (Note: After your OC comes to Hawkings they can upgrade their wardrobe to sometime nice! NOTE THIS IN YOUR APP)
14.) Your character is allowed to be attractive - to the point of a power, even! Just please, do not make them the most beautiful/handsome/'sexiest' person in the world. Just don't be that person.
15.) This is not some sob-fest. Don't give your character a painfully tragic past. We get it, being a mutant is hard. Just don't make it to where your OC's been raped at the age of three, had their family killed in front of them, and their dog drowned by their rapists. It's highly disturbing, somewhat insulting, and just overkill. Feel free to have them tortured by Itex agents, though.
16.) If you are including something disturbing in your app, trigger warnings are encouraged. However if your story gets too out of hand you will be asked to change/modify it.
17.) VERY IMPORTANT: While couples can produce children in this group, there are some requirements. First, the parents can only have a single mutation each. And second, the mutation that both parents have must be exact or incredibly similar. (Ex: A golden retriever and a labrador mutant could produce a mix breed mutant child.) And while biological births are permitted with admin approval, it's highly unlikely that a couple would ever conceive in the first place. So try and limit the amount of baby making.
Adults must be 18+ to have children/be a guardian.
18.) Animal mutations can be limited! We don't want too many mutants of the same animal.
19.) Pets are allowed, but there is one pet per OC and the pet can have one mutation. You must also give an explanation of how your OC found said pet. (NOTE THIS IN THE APP)
20.) Try to stick with domestic animals, but exceptions can be made within reason.
21.) There's a character limit of 10 OCs. This cap can be altered but there will have to be either a lot of activity or a lot of requests to make new OCs.
